13 ideas for slow tourism

Slow Food and Airbnb have decided to work together to offer social impact experiences created by non-profit organizations that connect travelers with their cause. Vanity Fair suggests 13 ideas for those who love walks, cooking lessons, ancient itineraries, protected areas and ancient sheep tracks. In the Italian summer of 2021 the passion for the 25 national parks in the area was reborn, with an 88% increase compared to 2019 in searches for destinations within a 30-minute drive from the natural parks. The rediscovery of the tratturi, wide grassy paths traveled by the shepherds of Central and Southern Italy during the transhumance, which are today ideal trekking itineraries for discovering small villages and local traditions, was also very successful.

Among the experiences proposed in the gallery, we start from alternative locations, such as sleeping at the foot of the Gran Sasso, staying in a glamping in Levanto, in a villa in Circeo, in a trullo, in a tree house or in a cottage on the river. But also, trekking accompanied by donkeys, alpacas, becoming a farmer for a day, discovering sustainable gastronomy, Piedmontese hazelnuts, learning to cook like 400 years ago and to produce pecorino.
