Interview with Francesc Colomer.

Francesc Colomer, head of the Autonomous Secretariat of Tourism of the Generalitat Valenciana, was interviewed at the Fitur 2021 tourism fair.

According to Colomer, following the pandemic, tourism will “embrace life” and there will be an explosion in desire to have fun, travel, unplug, and reconnect with reality. In other words, these indispensable mental health exercises that are tourism and travel, even after repeated lockdowns, are bound to have a great future. People need a change of scenery, to disconnect in order to recognize themselves. In this sense, the current situation is a great opportunity for those in the industry. According to Colomer, the market is likely to become more demanding, with greater values associated with tranquility, security and trust. The interview discusses how the Valencian community is preparing for the new inflow, including the adoption of a tourist passport. Sustainability, digital transformation, knowledge transfer, collective governance models, improvement of the offering and greater respect for privacy… These are the key words of the new Spanish model.
