Post-Covid health tourism.

We share the report produced by The European House – Ambrosetti titled “From the attractiveness of the health ecosystem to the competitiveness of the economic system. The potential of health tourism “. The document is inspired by some reflections contained in the Paper “The value of the health ecosystem as leverage for economic growth, social cohesion and sustainable development of a territory” which was presented last year during the first edition of the Meridiano Sanità Sicilia Forum.

The Report contains reflections on the dimensions and potentialities of health tourism intended as medical tourism and wellness tourism.

If we look at the inflows in Italy, patients arrive for excellent healthcare services, particularly in the areas of cardiac surgery, neurology, oncology, bariatric surgery and orthopedics. The value of health tourism in Italy is around 2 billion euros and is destined to grow if we consider both the excellence of the Italian health ecosystem and the artistic-cultural and landscape heritage that make the Made in Italy an extraordinary tourist offer.
