Distance medicine grows in Italy as well.

Telemedicine has accelerated during lockdown, achieving excellent results also in Italy.

During the pandemic, mortality due to heart attacks tripled, however a single consulation dropped this figure by 20%, and 36% for follow-up visits. The data speaks for itself: 37% less healthcare services, 13 million specialist visits suspended, 500,000 surgeries postponed, 4 million cancer screenings postponed.

Faced with the impossibility of adequately following up on patients, a method was formed that until then was talked about much more than it was used in practice: telemedicine, or the possibility of providing care at a distance thanks to technological support.

At the beginning of 2022, telemedicine has finally entered the political agenda and the Recovery Plan, so much so that it will be one of the priorities of upcoming investment and development plans.

In recent years, Argos too has played its part, supporting its clients on a daily basis in the provision of services through telemedicine, offering them the possibility of interacting with patients remotely and monitoring them, especially when they need healthcare assistance for longer or shorter periods of time, such as in the case of chronic diseases or those at risk of complications. There are numerous effective practices available, with new ones being added all the time.

We share an in-depth look at telemedicine during the pandemic published in Panorama.
