For Christmas the mountain is the most popular destination.

The winter season this year is predicted to increase by 2% compared to last year, which already saw a spike in tourists. The International Tourism Forum in Baveno, a tourist resort on Lake Maggiore, took place on November 24th and 25th, and Marina Lalli, President of Federturismo Confindustria, foresaw this happening.

According to estimates by Federturismo, it is expected that during the winter season about 13 million Italians will embark on a trip to the Belpaese, giving preference mainly to the mountain, destination that continues to exert a remarkable charm not only for Italian tourists, but also for Europeans and Americans. For those who want both skiing and visiting the traditional Christmas markets, Madonna di Campiglio, Cortina D’Ampezzo, and Bormio are the ideal destinations. Art cities such as Rome, Milan and Florence continue to be popular, with a strong presence of Italian and foreign tourists, Spanish (33%), French (16%) and German (9%), with over 60% of the rooms already booked.

The survey by Hotelier Pro also points out that bookings for the upcoming Christmas holidays are reaching record figures: at Christmas 39% of rooms are already booked, while for the entire winter season occupancy reaches 44.75%. Compared to last year, your daily spending has increased to 216.6 euros.

The data analyzed by Hotelier Pro, from the management software of more than 300 facilities in mountain locations, confirm an encouraging winter season for room occupancy and the average daily rate. The rooms have been provisionally occupied by 49.5% in December, 51.3% in January, and 46.5% in February. Compared to 2022, these figures are also increasing.
